Updates

When is your next book coming out?”  That’s a question I hear a lot, so I thought an “updates” page might be handy.  This is where I talk about what I’m working on now, and when you might expect to see it somewhere other than my hard drive.

If you’d like to receive an email notifying you of my latest release, be sure to sign up for my newsletter.  You’ll also receive access to subscriber only bonus content including alternative POV scenes and exclusive short stories.

April 2021

Guard the Dawn, the final book in my Night Traveler Series will release on April 30th. It’s now available for preorder and you can find the links here. Next, I’ll turn my attention to a brand new series set in a brand new world. More details to come…

December 2020

I’m still working on the third and final book of my Night Traveler Series. This one took a little longer than expected to come together. (Of course, it didn’t help that the bonus Halloween story I wrote for newsletter subscribers ended up being almost 16,000 words. That’s closer to a novella than the short story I had planned. Oops!)

July 2020

July is release month! I’ve decide to release Track the Sun at all retailers, plus Hunt the Dark will release at the end of the month. Read more about that here.

In addition, I’ve also made Iron Tears (my Iron Souls novella) available as it’s own book. You find out more about that here.

June 2020

I’m currently writing Hunt the Dark, the second book in my Night Traveler Series which is planned for a July release. In other news, I sent an exclusive Iron Souls Prequel short story to newsletter subscribers last month. If you’re not receiving my newsletter, you can subscribe here.

April 2020

The first book in my new Night Traveler Series releases on April 30. Learn more about it in this blog post here.

February 2020

I’m hard at work on my new series: a trilogy set in my Final Formula world. Look for new characters, new conflict, and a new flavor of Old Magic. Book One will release this spring.

August 2019

Shadows of the Past is now live! My Death’s Legacy Duology is finally complete. Next, I’ll be turning my attention to a new trilogy set in the same world. This trilogy features all new characters and conflict– including a new flavor of Old Magic!

June 2019

With the Iron Souls Series now complete, I’m turning my attention back to Death’s Legacy, my Final Formula spin-off series. I decided to make it a duology, so the next book will be the final one. Look for a late summer release.

November 2018

I’ve almost finished the first draft of Iron Souls 5. Look for an early 2019 release of that one. Also, I decided to recover The Final Formula. You check out its new cover in my blog post here.

September 2018

With Corroded out in the world, I’ve turned my attention the my next projects: Iron Souls 5 (the final book in the series) and an Iron Souls novella.

August 2018

Corroded: Iron Souls, Book Four is now available for preorder and will release on August 31st. You find the blurb, cover, and an excerpt here. Also, be sure and check out my interview with Molly here.

July 2018

Iron Souls 4 is almost ready to go. Release news coming soon. Meanwhile, I have a new Final Formula short story. It’s available in Street Spells, a multi-author anthology that is free everywhere. For more info, check out my post here.

April 2018

Heart of Iron (Iron Souls 3) will release on April 30th, but it is available for preorder on Amazon. You can check out the cover, blurb, and read an excerpt on my blog post here. In other news, I’ve started Iron Souls 4.

March 2018

Soul Singer is live! You can grab a copy here: Amazon. Book 3 is going through the editing process and should release in April.

February 2018

Soul Singer: Iron Souls, Book Two will release on February 26th, but it’s available for preorder now. Check out my blog post here for cover, blurb, and retailer link. I’m currently hard at work on Iron Souls 3. I’ll share more about that soon.

January 2018

I’ve written a post about what you can expect from me in 2018. You can check it out here. Also, I’ve been posting snippets from Iron Souls 2 over on my Facebook page.

October 2017

Book 2 of my Iron Souls series went out to beta readers this month, and I’ve started plotting book 3. Both books will release in early 2018 once Ferromancer leaves the Dominion Rising Boxed Set at the beginning of the year. Speaking of Ferromancer… I’m giving away autographed paperbacks on Goodreads. Learn more about that as well as my Halloween sale in my blog post here.

September 2017

Whoops. I got a little behind in my updates. Probably because I’ve been so busy writing! Last month, I had two releases. Details here and here. Now I’m hard at work on the second book in my Iron Souls Series.

April 2017

The Fifth Essence (FF5) is live!  Pick up a copy at: Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Kobo | Smashwords | Apple

March 2017

FF5 will release on April 28th.  Read more about that and other news here.

February 2017

The first draft of FF5 is finally finished and heading out for beta reads. It’s scheduled to go to my editor in late March, so expect an April release.  You can check out some snippets on my Facebook page.

January 2017

I wrote a post about what I’ve got going on in 2017.  You can check it out here.

October 2016

Oops, I’m a bit behind on my updates. Things have been crazy busy this fall (the kids are getting older and their extracurriculars are taking more and more of our time), but I’m still hard at work on FF5. I’ve posted a few snippets over on my Facebook page if you want to check those out. (Don’t forget to like my page if you want future snippets to show up in your feed.)

June 2016

FF4.5, now The Bonds of Blood, will release on July 15th.  You can check out the cover and blurb here. I’ve now turned my full attention to FF5 and once I get a little deeper into the first draft, I’ll share some snippets over on my Facebook page.

May 2016

I sent FF4.5 off to beta readers this month, and started plotting FF5.  I would love to have FF5 ready to go this fall.  *knocks on wood*

April 2016

I finished the first draft of FF4.5 and it’s on track for a summer release.  As with the other in-between novellas, this one is told from James and Elysia’s POV.  I’ve posted a few snippets over on my Facebook page if you want to check them out.

Earlier this month, I released Blood Gifts, a story told from Ian’s POV when he was a young man.  I’ve gotten a lot of requests to continue that story.  Maybe after FF5…

March 2016

I’m still plugging away at FF4.5 and hope to finish the rough draft early next month.  I’m also getting the Ian novella (now called Blood Gifts) ready to go.  You can check out the cover and blurb for Blood Gifts here.  The release date has been set for April 8th.  🙂

February 2016

I released The Catalyst of Corruption earlier this month and it’s now available in ebook and paperback in all the usual places.

In other news, FF4.5, the next James-Elysia novella is well underway. Look for that one to release this summer. But that’s not the only new title in the works. I recently finished an Ian point-of-view novella set back when he was alive. It’s the story of how he meets Isabelle. I’ll be sharing snippets from that one on my Facebook page soon, and hope to release it in April.

January 2016

As I type this at the end of January, FF4 (now called The Catalyst of Corruption) is in the final  stages of preparation for publication.  Look for it to release early next month.  Meanwhile, check out the cover, blurb, and excerpt in this post.

December 2015

FF4 is off with beta readers and scheduled to go to my editor in mid January.  If all goes well, look for a release in early February.  If you haven’t read my Christmas themed short story from The Final Formula Collection you can find the link to it in my Christmas post.  Enjoy!

November 2015

The first draft of FF4 is complete and I’m deep into the edits now. Unfortunately, this one didn’t come together as quickly as I’d hoped, so look for it to release after the first of the year. I do post the occasional FF4 snippet over on my Facebook page.  Don’t forget to like my page if you want the snippets to show up in your feed.  🙂

Also, I’ve added a new item to the menu bar at the top of my webpage called FF Fans. There, I’ve gathered all the fun Final Formula related posts like character interviews, alternative point-of-view scenes, and short stories.

October 2015

In celebration of The Final Formula’s second birthday, as well as the arrival of Fall and Halloween, I’ve designated October as my fun month.  If you missed it, check out the things I have going on in this post: My Favorite Time of Year.

September 2015

Well, the month is about over so I figured I’d best post an update.  I’m closing in on the grand finale of FF4.  I hope to be writing “the end” sometime soon.  If all goes well, I should be sending it out for beta reads in October.

As always, you’ll find FF4 snippets on my Facebook page.  If you want the snippets to show up in your feed, don’t forget to like my page.

August 2015

I’m afraid I don’t have anything new to report.  FF4 is coming along and I’ve been pleased with my recent progress.  You can check out a few snippets on my Facebook page.  Don’t forget to like my page if you want the snippets to show up in your feed.  🙂

In case you missed it… I interviewed Rowan recently.  Fans asked some burning questions (sorry, bad pun), and you can read his answers here.

July 2015

As I predicted, I’m still working on the first draft of FF4.  I am making progress.  To prove it, I’ve posted a few snippets over on my Facebook page.  😉

In other news, I’ve released The Final Formula Collection.  This is a bundle that includes FF1, FF1.5, FF2, plus two new short stories.  To learn more about it and read an excerpt from one of the short stories, check out my blog post here.

June 2015

Since June is almost over (where did the time go?!) I thought I best post a quick update.  At the moment, I’m working on the first draft of FF4.  I’m afraid that will be the theme for the next few months, but if all goes well, I should have it ready to release this fall.  Once the draft starts to take shape, I’ll begin posting snippets over my Facebook page.

The bundle I mentioned in the previous update should be ready to go in July.  I had a lot of fun writing a couple of brand new short stories for it.  More details to come.

In case you missed it, I interviewed Ian over on the blog.  Later this summer, I hope to have a chat with Rowan, so stay tuned.  🙂

May 2015

FF3.5, now The Heir of Death, has been released.  You can read the blurb, check out an excerpt, or find retailer links on my blog post about it here.

At the moment, I’m finishing up a couple of short stories to include in a bundle of the first three titles in the series.  There will be a special offer for newsletter subscribers once I get it done, so if you haven’t signed up, you might want to.  You’ll also get an alternative POV scene from The Final Formula.  Details here.

April 2015

I met my goal and finished the first draft of FF3.5. Now I’m deep in the edits to get it ready to send off to beta readers. I would love to release this one in May, but we shall see. Meanwhile, I’ll share a few more snippets over on my Facebook page.

Last month, I was interviewed by the Science Fiction & Fantasy Marketing Podcast. You can check out my interview (and Appalachian accent 😛 ) here.

March 2015

I’m still plugging away on FF3.5 and hope to finish the rough draft by the end of this month or early April.  *crosses fingers*  I have posted a couple of snippets from FF3.5, as well as two deleted scenes from The Alchemist’s Flame over on my Facebook page if you haven’t had a chance to check those out.

February 2015

The Alchemist’s Flame was released earlier this month and so far, it has been well received. I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to leave a review. As I talked about in a recent blog post, that’s such a huge help to an independent author like me.  🙂

I’m still working on FF3.5, but that’s not the only iron I have in the fire. I’m trying to get together some extra content like more alternative POV scenes, and perhaps a short story. I asked for suggestions over on my Facebook page if you would like to chime in.

January 2015

As I write this at mid-month, The Alchemist’s Flame (aka FF3) is with my editor and cover artist. I’ve got my fingers crossed that it’ll be ready to release by month’s end, but I can make no promises since it’s no longer in my hands. Meanwhile, I’ve started the first draft of FF3.5, the next James/Elysia novella. When you get to the end of The Alchemist’s Flame, you’ll see where that one is going.  😉

In other news, The Necromancer’s Betrayal is on sale for $0.99. If you haven’t read that one, here’s your chance to save a few bucks. (The Alchemist’s Flame begins just hours after The Necromancer’s Betrayal ends.)

December 2014

FF3 is done and off with beta readers. I’m afraid I won’t make the December release date as I had hoped, but it shouldn’t be much of a delay. FF3 goes off for editing in early January and cover art by mid-month.  Thanks for your patience.  And don’t forget to check out some snippets over on my Facebook page.  🙂

October 2014

Thank goodness I gave myself until December to get the next book out because September was insane.  I worked 50 to 60 hours most every week.  We were even authorized for a couple of 70 weeks.  (I turned that down.  I needed at least one day off!)  But I’m back on track now.

A couple of new things…  If you haven’t seen it yet, I made a trailer for The Final Formula.  You can view it here.  Also, I’m giving away an autographed set of all four books in the series so far.  This is a Goodreads Giveaway, so enter here.  And finally, I’ve been posting a few short snippets on Twitter using the #FF3 hashtag.  (Longer snippets can still be found on my Facebook page.)

September 2014

I’m still hard at work on the first draft of FF3 and hope to finish by the end of the month. I don’t write as fast as I would like, but I’m working to improve my process. If you’d like to read more on that topic, check out this post.  I also share the occasional snippet over on my Facebook page, if you’re interested. 🙂

August 2014

The ebook of The Necromancer’s Betrayal was released on August 1st, and the paperback version should be available by mid-month. With all the release tasks finished, I’m officially in first draft mode once again. My current victim is FF3, the next full-length novel in Addie’s POV. I’m shooting for an early December release, sooner if I can manage it.

July 2014

July has been a busy month.  I just returned from vacation: a sixteen day road trip with the family. It was great fun, but I’m glad to be back in front of my keyboard.  I’m in the process of giving FF2.5 its final polish before sending it off the editor.  I’ll be doing a cover reveal later in the month.  And be sure to watch my Facebook page for the occasional snippet.

Once I’ve sent FF2.5 off to my editor, it’ll be time to start the first draft of FF3.   I’ve done some plotting on that one, and I can’t wait to jump back into Addie’s POV.  🙂

June 2014

I just finished the rough draft of FF 2.5, another novella in James’s POV.  I’m cleaning it up in preparation to send off to my critique partners for the first round of reviews.  It’s scheduled for editing and formatting at the end of July, so look for this novella to release in August.

In case you’re wondering why another novella…  I originally planned the Final Formula series as alternating between novels in Addie’s POV and novellas in James’s POV.  James has a story to tell, and it will have a big impact on the overall series.  Look for his novellas to get longer as the series progresses (FF 2.5 is twice as long as FF1.5).  I hope you enjoy this slightly different approach to publishing a series.  Another perk of alternating shorter works with longer works is that I can release something new more frequently.
